MOCAK
Museum of Contemporary Art Krakow, Krakow, Poland
The Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow (MOCAK) is built on a site of former Schindler's Factory and partly coincides its industrial pavilions. Remembering the past but moving forward by integrating these places of collective memory with new, bright spaces filled with art and culture. The industrial roof-lines of the existing buildings have become a motive, main element carried throughout the entire project. Embracing the continuity between past and presence.
The building of the museum was designed by Claudio Nardi and it was inspired by neomodern architecture. The exhibition area is divided into several sections and covers the area of 4,000 square metres while the area of the whole museum covers 10,000 square metres.
